About our section:

The  Iowa State Student Chapter of Society of Applied Spectroscopy (ISU SCSAS) is located in Ames, Iowa at the Iowa State University campus.  ISU SCSAS endorses and supports activities to further increase knowledge of spectroscopy.  Our three goals are:
• Creating a jubilating career networking service for Iowa State University graduate student chemists
• Invite speakers to share world class research and knowledge within the field of spectroscopy
• Share views and thoughts on current and modern day spectroscopy

Summary of last section event:

We last hosted Dr. Robert Walker from Montana State University as part of the National SAS speaker tour on September 16, 2016.  He is a Professor and the Materials Science Program Director at Montana State University.  He spoke during the Iowa State University Analytical Chemistry seminar time slot.  His talk was titled "Finding Surprises in Hard to see Places: Unusual Adsorption and Solvation Behaviors at Buried Interfaces." While he was visiting Iowa State, he had a chance to meet with several faculty members as well as students in the SCSAS.  SCSAS students also were able to meet with Dr. Bright during shuttling between Ames and the Des Moines airport, as well as lunch and dinner.
