Because of its high sensitivity and relative experimental simplicity, the optogalvanic technique for studying atomic/molecular spectra is being increasingly used in spectroscopic investigations. In the present note we report the application of this technique to the study of the atomic spectrum of aluminum. Earlier more conventional spectroscopic investigations resulted in the identification of several configurations of neutral and ionized Al, and we are able to observe a large number of new lines here.
