Resonance Raman Spectrum of Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)

Volume 27, Number 5 (Oct. 1973) Page 390-391

George, W.O.; Mendelsohn, R.

Resonance Raman spectra have recently been reported for a variety of biological materials including hemoglobin and cytochrome c. The resonance phenomenon leads to enhancement of intensity when molecules are excited by radiation of wavelength within that of an absorption band, and the effect provides a structural probe at low solution concentrations. We now report a resonance Raman study of cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) in both solid and solution states together with a study of dicyanocobalamin and cyanoaquocobin-amide.
