The Charge Transfer to Solvent (CTTS) Spectrum of Br In Molten Tetrabutylphosphonium Tetrabromometalates

Recently we reported that some of the charge-transfer bands of CoBr4= which are ordinarily obscured by the absorption of Br− can be resolved in thin films of (Bu4P+)2CoBr4=.1 Apparently the concentration of free Br− is so small under these conditions that it permits the detection of CoBr4= bands in the same region. Here we note that it is also possible to observe at least the first component of the absorption band of Br− by the same technique.
