Factor Group Analysis for Some Molecules of Interest in Planetary Atmospheres

Volume 29, Number 4 (Aug. 1975) Page 354-355

Ferraro, John R.

A number of molecules have been identified in planetary atmospheres. In many cases one is concerned with the condensed state of these molecules, since at the temperatures involved most of these molecules have solidified to frosts. During the course of laboratory spectroscopic studies conducted on some of these frosts, it was necessary to develop the factor group selection rules. It became apparent that no compilation of these selection rules had been previously made and published. It was felt that such a compilation would prove very valuable to investigators involved in planetary atmosphere research.
