Our group has reported resonance Raman microprobe studies of chromobacteria in water which demonstrate that spectra can be obtained from single bacterial cells and from mixed cultures without need for prior separation. Thus, the potential of resonance Raman spectroscopy for sensitive bacterial analysis has been demonstrated.
