The high sensitivity of laser-based ionization techniques for detection of atoms in flames, primarily Laser-Enhanced Ionization (LEI) spectrometry, has successfully been demonstrated in several publications during the last decade. Detection limits in the ppt-ppb region for traces in solutions have been established for a number of elements.
