Since Schulman and Walling reported the emission of intense phosphorescence at room temperature from ionic organic compounds adsorbed on solid substrates, solid surface room-temperature phosphorescence (SSRTP) has been growing as a promising technique for the trace determination of compounds of environmental, biological, and clinical interest.
