The use of line sources in atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) enables the attainment of high sensitivities and low detection limits for most elements to be achieved. Typically, these light sources are of the form of hollow cathode glow-discharge lamps (HCLs) and electrodeless discharge lamps (EDLs).
