Early Career Interest Group
The Early Career Interest Group (ECIG) of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy invites volunteers to serve as committee members for a two-year term. The ECIG of SAS is a group which aims to support the professional development of early career scientists through award schemes, travel grants, as well as opportunities in leadership, outreach, networking, volunteering, formal certification, and employment. We are actively seeking committee members from a range of career stages across academia, industry, and government, who have interest in science communication, networking, mentoring, and the promotion of early career scientists. Eligibility Requirements: Must be an active SAS member.
By submitting this application, you agree that if selected to serve on ECIG Committee you will participate in 75% of the monthly meetings and assist in the planning and/or delivery of the SAS ECIG activities at SciX. Committee members should be prepared to dedicate around 3-5 hours per month to this role.
Newsletter Committee
The SAS Newsletter Committee is looking for two or three new volunteers to help assist with the Newsletter. The responsibilities for this position on average take 1-3 hours per month. The newsletter is SAS' official means of communicating with members, delivering important society news every month. This could include upcoming conferences and presentations, section activities, awards, career and professional development information, etc. If you have a slant towards journalism or creative writing, you are highly encouraged to inquire about the committee; however, anyone with enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to the Newsletter are welcome!Social Media Committee
The Social Media committee is in charge of our social media – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. – and helps create interest in SAS through scheduling posts about all things SAS and spectroscopy related. Typical investment is 2-4 hours per month and requires a little creativity. Serving on this committee is a great way to learn more about social media marketing and improve your skills in the area.
